Today we had another bus jouney - this one 7 and a half hours but this one had air con so we were happy!
It soon became apparant we would be stopping every 10 minutes to pick up the locals. It is illegal for people to stand on buses but thís didn´t stop the driver and conductor who were making extra money for themselves. When you think you can´t fit anymore on 2 more families arrive! At one stage I was practically on Claire´s lap cos I had a child sitting on top of my chair!! What an experience.
The next day we were due to leave at 10am to go to immigration to get our visa back into Brazil, when we got there we discovered that this could not be done for 3 hours because they had caught a drug dealer and only seem capable of doing one thing at once! This meant we had to waste three hours in a town with nothing to do. On one side of the road is Paraguay and on the other is Brazil.
3 hours turned into 4.5 hours after begging the immigration officer to do our visas, but hey ho this is the South American way of life!!! Nothing is a rush.
