Where I stayed
Had booked the nearly unrecognizable Mazda for a service so dropped that off early and spent the day walking around the city looking at the ruins of Cyclone Tracey and a few hours at 1 of the crocodile parks
A heavy shower of rain in the afternoon added to the humidity, we were wilting fast so down to the waterfront for ice-cream and a quick cool off in the safe beach area where swimming is allowed as apparently no crocs in here. A magnificent wave pool down on the waterfront which we will be visiting over the next couple of days.
We spent 6 nights in Darwin which was nice for a change to stay in the 1 place for more than 2 or 3 nights. We really enjoyed Darwin with great weather and an easy going lifestyle. Getting haircuts for the boys we were talking to the hairdresser who was originally from Sydney and a lawyer for 20 years and he said he loved living in Darwin, he works for 3 weeks straight and then travels to either Bali, Hong Kong or Thailand. He has a house in Thailand with with a maid and gardener, a nanny and driver (pays them $60 a month each) & flies over there very cheaply on a regular basis sometimes just for the weekend. He told us we should move up here, work for 6 months of the year and then travel for the rest - sounded very tempting.
