By which time, the dry dusty conditions meant beer o clock arrived early - forced a couple of hideosly awful Tonas down in desperation - has gone to the only foreign owned joint in town in the hope it's Dutch owner might have a spare book in English & felt obliged to buy a couple for his having swapped my book. Had a good chat over them, about his 20 years there, food, sailing, wildlife & much more.
Then was time to get some food & a decent beer! Henrik's restaurant suggestion was not my thing - a smoked glass gloomy closed in place with zero character designed for a/c but then which is rarely used - either way an awful option! Ended up at the Ranch buffet which was actually excellent, the tastiest local food I've had in a long time - meetballs with creamy jalapeno sauce, cheese stuffed potato croquettes and 2 cheese stuffed & battered & deep fried chayote with a nice fresh mexican style salsa on the side.
The chief waitress accompanied me on my search for Victoria beer, the classic one not the new Frost which is a worse than Tona! Went to all but one of the bars in town but nada. Eventually I found it in a place near the market.
