Quick and easy flight to Chang Rai. It was late and we were brought to one of the only hotels in the place. Not too expensive so we were happy bunnies. We got up in the morning with a plan of getting the bus to the Boat just across the boarder into Laos. So Craig and Clive went to investigate. We found out the bus leaves every hour to Chiang Kong and it takes three hours. Now to find out about the boat.
An American couple took Craig and Conor to a travel agents which we then discovered the boat too 2 days. Or there is a fast one that is very dangerous so that one was not an option. Then we found out had we gone to Chang Mai we could fly there but that was a 5 hour bus backwards. Nightmare. There was also a plane from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang that was chartered for the day we arrived there. But it only fly's when it was full. So we had a feed in a decent café and boarded this local bus which was an experience in its self. A bus with locals and packages everywhere. All the windows and doors not closed. Clive and Conor sat with the luggage and had huge leg space. We arrived safe and sound in Chiang Kong.
