Where I stayed
Leaving Bali to head to To an Island was easy as Kuta was a hectic place and we wanted to just chill out and relax on some scenic beaches. We decided to try and get there a bit cheaper than we usually would so we booked a boat from our hotel to the harbor. We had no idea how long this was going to take but Craig organised it so what could go wrong.
When we boarded our bus it was small and bad air con. But we couldn't be going far on this bus its too small. 3 and a half hours later we were at the port after stopping everywhere else in Bali. We boarded an old ship, Sure Gili Islands are only just off Bali. 7 hours on board a boat with we arrived. Are spirits were lifted ending the boat journey when we got a fish curry and a Robbie Williams Live concert on a small T.V. We then turned into night Drug Smugglers as a little boat pulled up along side the other boat and as the current is so strong you have to jump from one moving boat to another
Obviously after landing on an Island 7 hours off Bali with no Dogs or Vehicles you head straight for the Hostel called Tir Na Nog. About as Irish as the American who calls Donegal, Gally Dun. It had a good bar and good nightlife so I suppose it was a little Irish after all. They had a big open Barbecue which did pretty good meat Skewers and other food. We met up with two girls we had met earlier Tamara and Emily and headed to Ruddies which was a big out door Club and only open once a week. Full on cheap Spirits it was time to go back and watch a bit of the Euros. It was tough and only made it to half time. Then Craig Burst into song with a bit of Damo. I dint think it was loved by others as much as Conor and Craig loved it as they were told to shut up from a neighboring Hotel
Next day we decided to have a look for the beach and set off along a road which turned to a path which turned to a track until we ran out of Ideas of where this beach. There was sea to the left of us the whole time but no beach. It was too much for Conor so he turned back. We gave up the ghost a few minutes later and had a dip in the sea. You cant even get into the sea for all the Coral so that was short lived. We then headed back for something to eat and hit a few of the local beers and spirits which were very cheap but also poured under the counter and were weird colours like pink and green
Following day Craig got up at 10 and headed for a snorkel off a boat where there is supposed to be a hell of a lot of Turtles. It stood up to its rep and he saw a good few of them. That day we decide it was a cool Island but with no beach and nowhere to swim we would head back to Kuta the next day. That evening we met Jammer n his mates after a Volcano trek and it looked like it had got the better of them. Had dinner with them and watched the local band play. When they found out we were Irish they began shouting fuck in a country accent which was quite strange but very funny. We Headed off the next morning
But the Way back was not the way we came. We boarded a tiny boat and headed to another part of the main land. We then boarded a little bus for an hour that brought us up over mountains and winding roads we got up so high we saw monkeys and the Likes. We then re boarded the boat where we were well fed again. On arrival to the port we couldn't handle that bus back so we paid a bit extra and got a Taxi Home to Kuta. On the way we played a game. You got to pick 2 actors and 1 actress and make up the story line. It was a bit of fun but were no Directors.
