After a good 5 hour flight with quantas and all the accustomed in flight trimmings we reached Perth on the West Coast of Oz. Unfortunately, due to flight restrictions, we only had three nights to spend over here which was far too short a time to allow any serious traveling along the coast.

First impressons were how cold it was, bleedin Baltic compared to the east coast and also how laid back the city was compared to Sydney and Melbourne. In fact, after the hectic few weeks that we had on the other side of the land down under, Perth was going to be our rehab for a few days, no drinking, just chilling the f@#k out as donny lad would say. We checked into a central hostel owned by a greek couple who were wither daft as brushes or just wired to the moon, probably a bit of both. Nice room with TV was our central hub of activity for the next few days and the start of the Euro football championships spiced things up nicely. A little side bet was set up with each of us choosing a team (Craig: the mighty dutch, Conor: The Spanish hotheads, Clive: team Ronaldo i.e. Portugal and the Donny Lad on the French: Ohh LA LA) As broke as we are, a significant wager was placed, only time will tell...

Craig went off to see the famous Cottsloe Beach one morning and was duly impressed by the surfing history in the area. A board wouldn't have gone astray though because the waves were cranking that morning, tiger sharks or no tiger sharks. He also got a quick trip to the science museum to get his geek on. Definitely worth a visit even if the average age was a five year old school kid!

Conor and Craig also managed a couple of sneaky beatdowns in the morning (the training never stops) on the lake front. Those Thai boxers are going to be in for a nice surprise, Ong Bak style baby.,..

We never had time to get to Freemantle or even Margaret River to the south, crying shame alrgith but a good excuse to make it back there in the future. On the other hand, we were looking forward to our first leg in Indonesia and Bali. Lets hope the Asian persuasion gets off to a good start!!
