After very little kip and a few sore heads we awoke to another stunning in paradise to sort out our Whitsunday excursion. Because we were so short on time and money we decided that a day trip around these islands was the best call. The Whitsundays are basically these a group of tropical islands situated just off the East coast of Oz renowned for their beauty and pristine beaches. Not everyone could afford to do the trip so Craig, Clivo, Caoimhe, Bones, Con Con and Doni set off while the others chilled the beans back in Arlie.

It was decided that the best way to see as much as we could in such a short time was to get the GO FAST BOAT. This beast was a rib with two 300HP engines. With capacity to reach 30 knots this wasn't the most eco friendly option but beggars cant be choosers and all that.

First port of call was some snorkeling off one of the smaller islands. This was actually a little disappointing when compared with the barrier reef but I reckon most coral would be. It got a bit interesting when the skipper decided to stir it up by throwing shit loads of fish food all around us. Next thing we knew we were literally part of lunch and a lot lower down the food chain the new were accustomed to. Needless to say, the nature boy was in his element.

Next stop was an Aboriginal cave high up in an another island. We had been looking forward to seeing a bit of the indigenous culture but again were disappointed as the cave had very little traces of past settlers, it did reek though. Onwards and upwards the fast boat bee lined it for Whitetavern beach. This gem easily compared to Ilha Grandhe in Brazil with its sugar like white sand and tranquil turquoise water. After a great feed we took on some Brits in a game of footie. They stood no chance against Clive "Solid as a rock" Lew, Conor "the left peg" McCartney, Don "the engine room" Lawlor, Bones "twinkle toes" Morrissey and Craig "the winger" Watson. It was complete annihilation not seen on a scale since Stuttgart 1988.

After a few quality games of donkey with the American football and a world class human bike (see the photo) we set sail home. One last treat was in store when the Aussie crew decided to try and capsize our boat by doing everything from doughnuts to hit and runs with other boats, good times and a great day out. We met up with the others and hit the road fairly pronto as we had a whopper drive towards Fraser Islands.
