After a long stop over in Lima, and a short stopover in Santiago we arrived in Punta Arenas. For the first time on our trip we had no accomodation booked in advance so we went about looking for some information. We saw a leaflet for a nice looking hostel so Doni rang up and booked. We got a taxi to the place we intended to stay, looked at the exterior and we were not happy! The place looked like a Yardmaster 3000. As no money had exchanged hands in the booking we said nothing and just walked away. We hopped in a taxi where we were then taken to another hostel. Our new hostel was that of the Shoe Bomber. He was an odd man only happy to take our money and show us into a room with 3 beds(one broken, 2 dodgy) and cable TV. We walked around the town for awhile, had some food went on the internet for awhile and then just watched TV for the rest of the night. On a first night in Punta Arenas the main point to note was the place was freezing and a bit of a ghost town especially on Sundays...We got up early on a cold windy Monday morning and headed for the bus station knowing we had to return after El Calafate in a week´s time....

ALL VERY BORING IN PUNTA ARENAS....
