Let me know if you get this!!!!!
The festivals were… Festa Junina and a festival about the Immigrant history of Brazil. First was the Festa Junina.
The festival took place at a really neat church. (See picture) There was a lot of food, live music, and bingo. :o)) I was starving so the first stop was to get a steak sandwich and a coke. After I got settled, we walked around and Rony and Fabiola started in on the eating. I got to taste foods from different states of Brazil. It was interesting to say the least. I preferred my steak sandwich. We walked around listening to live music and eating all night. I ended up having 2 sausage sandwiches and a churro filed with a cream. OMG it was good!! Their was a ton of sweet things to eat and I think we all had a little of everything. Near the end of the night we went into the Bingo hall. It is a little different from our bingo. I am not really sure how you play here!! We made one more pass through the food and headed home. Stuffed!!!!!
The Immigrant festival was fun. Just Fabiola and I. This festival was held at the immigrant museum. This festival had food from about 20 different countries. We ate Japanese and then a crape from France. The festival was more of a cultural sharing event. Each country had some kind of dance that they did. We saw about 5 countries dance. The best one was from the Ukraine. I think!!!! They had a lot of kids dancing and the boys did the dance where they squat down and kick out there legs one at a time. I am not describing that well but it was really neat. One other country had a lady walking around with 4 wine bottles on her head.
Fabiola and I walked through the museum. It was really neat and several photo opps. The stuffed people from each country were neat but the guy from the US was dressed like a cowboy!! Go figure. We walked through taking funny pictures. I thought it was neat that they had some very old passports from people traveling to Brazil.
Anyway, the even was great and Fabiola and I had a great time. I just found out that I get to go to A French fest and a Japanese fest this weekend!!! (7/18)
Lastly… Fabiola and I went to a theme park in Sao Paulo. The name is Hopi Hari. We met some good friends of Fabiola's and their kids.
We had to take a bus there. It took about an hour and a half. It was the size of say Six Flags. There was a Wet & Wild right next door!!!!
The park was cool but they seem to miss out on sticking to the theme. The western part of the park had western attractions and even a Wild West show. However, walking thorough the section they play Indian music. They even had a street performance to Indian music. Another section had Sesame Street characters. However, the cookie monster did not sell cookies, he sold pizza. The little details they missed made me laugh. I was going to ride on the Oscar the Grouch teacups but I tend to not feel so good after. As the night progressed we dodged the rain, ate popcorn, churros and road a roller coaster in the dark. (The only way I can ride one. Ha ha!!) We were going to wait around to watch the fireworks but we both were getting sleepy so we jumped in the car with the family we were with and headed home.
It was a good day!!!!
