Where I stayed
Fabiolas Aunt and Uncles condo
Today is Tuesday and I am sitting at my favorite place to eat. I have my BOSTON RED SOX JERSEY AND HOT on smoking a Cuban Montechristo , and drinking a coke zero. It is a beautiful winter day. It is about 70 degrees out. :o))
It has been a while so let me fill in the gaps.
1st things first. I kind of got a job. I had a school call me and want me to teach a student who requested a native speaker of English. That is me!!! However, they will not give me a work visa so the job only lasted 2 classes. I did make some money but no visa. Arrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
2nd thing is that Fabiola and I went on a 5 day vacation to a place called UBATUBA. Yes, Ubatuba. Her aunt and uncle have a condo in the town and let us come and stay with them.
We took a 4 hour bus ride and ended up in the outskirts of Ubatuba. The condo is 5k from the city. (I bet you by the end of this trip my feet will be killing me from walking so much.)
Our first day there, we walked to the beach and ate some fried fish on the beach and took some pictures. Then we headed off to town. No using the bus, just our feet J and walked along the beach taking pictures and pausing for me to catch my breath. Once in town, we walked around and shopped before we stopped to eat a late lunch of fried fish, rice w/raisins in it and some batatas fritas (French fries). Before the rain, we got some good pictures of the rain clouds rolling over the tops f the mountains. We walked back to the condo and spent the rest of the evening with the aunt and uncle.
The next day we went to Orlando's fish market. We were going to get some fish and shrimp to make dinner. After the market we went down to the Ubatatuba aquarium. Fabiola and I went in and walked around. It was interesting to say the least. It was not what I was expecting (if you compare it to ones in America). We had fun nonetheless. I got to talk to one of the employees at the touch tank. She spoke English!!! For the rest of the day we walked around taking pictures and people watching. I do have to tell you that we stopped to eat lunch. We had fried shrimp. However, the shrimp was fried with everything but the head on it. The tail, the shell, and yes the legs. That was interesting!!The next day, we climbed up the mountain next to the condo and took some pics on top of this giant rock that was sticking out of the side. After the hike that almost killed me, we walked along the beach and took some more photos of all kinds of stuff. The water was cold so I did not go near it. No self-respecting Floridian goes in cold water. J
(Fabiola and I went to another city called Paraty but the blog is making me break it up for some reason. So go look!!!)
Later that night we rented bicycles and road around downtown and the beach!!!
The next day we went back to the bus station and headed home. It is a little nerve racking to be on a small road in a big bus when you are up in the mountains. I keep thinking that we will go off the side and never be heard from again. Thank goodness it did not happen and we made it to flat ground. We did get to see a parade of horses on the way back. There was a rodeo going on in this town but it is common for the locals to ride in or something like that.
I am not sure what my next adventure will be but I will let you know!!
I have to tell you I am looking a pigeon right now that is missing all of his toes and just has stumps. Kinda interesting to see it walking around.
