We have arrived in Naples! The flight to Rome was good except for a few turbulent spots over Canada. Once in Rome, part of the team rode with missionary Charlie in his van while the rest of us experienced a train ride along the gorgeous Italian coast. We even had time for Phase 10 with Amanda reigning as champion. The team met at the hotel and unloaded our stuff and headed for St. Elmo's Castle. This castle provides an amazing view of Naples and the surrounding area - including sights such as Capri and Mount Vesuvias. Charlie shared about the apostle Paul's journey via Pozzuoli (Puteoli) from Acts 28. The best part was how he laid out his vision for reaching this city of four million for Christ. We also spent time praying over the city. Naturally we had to take a break and eat gelato - I'm sure the first of many trips to enjoy some of Italy's finest food. A few metro stops later, we were back near our hotel eating Margherita Pizza etc at a local pizzeria with missionaries Paul and Mackenzie and daughter Lily! Naples was where pizza was born so we had to start with pizza for our first big team meal. Now we are all back at the hotel exhausted (since we barely slept on the plane) and yet excited. Tomorrow we will learn our first lesson in flexibility because we will be adding a different element to our day - connecting with university students. We didn't know about this ministry but are glad to switch gears and do what is needed. Please pray that we will get rest and be ready to roll tomorrow. The next four days will be intense! We miss all of you and trust you had a great day of worship.
