The Rauland ski area is about an hour's drive from Seljord.  Its a pretty small mountain (compared to what I'm used to - Mammoth Mountain), and only has a couple of steep parts.  It usually has a lot of snowfall, but like a lot of places this year, has less than normal amounts.

I get a minor kick out of how old the chairlifts are - or how they seem so rustic from all the new equipment always in use in Cali.  I actually ride a couple of pomas as well...I don't think I've rode one in over 10 years, but I manage out just fine.  Thomas and I set up shop on this one medium sized jump and I try to maintain enough speed to get off it better.  I had forgot to wax my board and I noticed the results here a bit.  I practiced my hiking a bit by going back up a few times where the jump is.

The surrounding mountains are quite nice and they make up for the lack of skiable terrain here by their presence.  Its always good to keep a bit of variety in the mountains you visit, so I can't wait for the next place to go.  However, that will have to wait for a few days since we are taking an early train to Bergen the next day where we will be spending some time without snow.
