Perhaps that's why things happen so slowly around here.... infact maybe they just don't happen at all. Walking down the main street at 8pm on a Friday night.. Silence. A couple of empty restaurants, no people, no traffic and that's it! 'Perhaps they all come out at midnight' Jason said optimistically.... suddenly the sign at the hotel encouraging you to "Slip into Broome time" made sense. This place made Perth look like the London rat race! (see photo 1)
Spit and Sawdust
To escape the heat for a few minutes (even at night!) we wandered into the local pub, the Roebuck hotel ('Roey' to the locals.
Eventually we found a micro-brewery open at the other side of Town. It happened to have beer tasting and a curry buffet which as you can imagine pleased Jason no end! Although the beer tasting was cool I failed on the curry... forgot to ask how hot it was and when I took the first mouthful flames started coming out my mouth. Jason, having assured me it was "mild", found this hilarious and finished my meal too!
The next day we headed over to the famous Cable Beach (photo 2) which was not disappointing
We had a great time in Broome staying at a luxury hotel (much appreciated after hostels) which was my Birthday present to Jason. However luxury it was though they couldn't keep out Broome's enormous-flying -bug population! (Photo 8).
Hope you are all well and keep the e-mails coming, we love to hear news from home.
See you in Darwin for outback adventures (and no showers for 3 days eeek!)
