Arrived in Bangokok and got completely slapped in the face with the humidity - it is unbelievable. Turns out the air con in my room at The New World Lodge Hotel is, naturally, broken so Lucy and I sweltered last night and woke up a sticky mess...cold shower no 36 in 24hrs was well-justified. It is a great city if you can look past the sewage, smog and general filth, which thankfully I can. Just. The locals are great - always trying to help, although sometimes it is actually just for 10 Thai Baht....
Last night looked around in downtown Bangkok and found a lovely place to eat on Kho San Rd (please forgive the spelling), which is a great lively street, the locals playing their instuments and selling just about anything. Chilled out there with a Chang Beer which cost under a pound for a huge bottle, I was a cheap date before.....
