Potomac overall was an ok place to stay. They have increased the amenities for staying there however the food is still lackluster. I am glad that I skipped the seafood night. Apparently there is no more lobster. It has been replaced by crab legs. The crab legs are rationed also. Each diner gets two tokens each good for one crab leg serving or an alcoholic beverage. From what I hear the crab legs were not that good and were coated in some weird yellow sauce that was disgusting.
Instead, I met a friend and we went into the Adams-Morgan area and ate some lebanese food at the Lebanese Taverne. The food there was really good. Lebanese food is very similar to greek food. We split some Mezza. It was tasty. The meat came with a sauce that I need to find more about. It had the consitency of whipped butter, kind of. It was a bright white, a little spicy and very heavy on the garlic. But it was very good. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with garlic still in my mouth. I have not that happen to me before, even when I had elephant garlic tapas. The grapefruit and oatmeal this morning seem to have eliminated the garlic.
Today's meeting was well work. I had agreed to take a colleague to the airport. Only as we were walking to the car did she reveal the airport was National not Dulles. I had thought Dulles since that is where I was flying out of. I don't regret giving her a ride; I regret having to drive across Arlington and Fairfax county after 3pm. It took 90 minutes to make it to the Dulles Hilton. Most of it spent sitting in traffic in Faifax County. And my bladder was really beginng to hate me. Luckily I made it.
The Dulles Hilton is a nice hotel. Conveniently located near Dulles airport. The concierge level rooms have been recently remodeled. A good sized room and a tricked out entertainment system. It is one of those new fangled Guestlink systems. It takes component, vga, dvi, s-video, coaxial, sound and internet to run through 48 inch flat-wide screen tv. And the hotel even has HD signal. That is a first. I have seen lots of widescreen televisions in hotels but they don't get the HD signal so the picture looks bad. Thumbs up. The fitness area is even above average. Not quite health club level but really close. There are weights up to 75 pounds, a safety rack, cross-over, lots of machines and benches and about 5 treadmills and some other aerobic machines. Oh and there is an indoor and outdoor pool. A lot of amenities for a relatively small hotel.
The restaurant and bar are classy looking. Taking a brief look at the menu, food is best described a basic continental cuisine. The bar menu is standard. The prices though are about 5 dollars more than I think they should be. The prices would be fine closer in but out here I think they are high. Must be all the new housing development and the huge lack of competition within 10 minutes of the hotel. If you don't know the area you may feel stuck. Overall I would come back to this hotel again.
