Where I stayed
Issy and Ady found a shop that did Batik lessons. Batik is a form of art where linen is stretched onto a canvas and hot oil wax is painted on to form the outline of a design. You then fill in the pattern using ink based dye to layer beautiful colours onto the canvas
We didn't do a great deal in the town other than have a lovely time wandering around taking in the sights of Chinatown and stopping for the odd cafe latte that was available. Having said that, the city has a really nice feel to it and we were pleased to have made a bit of an effort to get there.
Please don’t tell anyone but we also have a confession to make. One late afternoon as the sun had just set we were walking home via the air-conditioned shopping centre, when we were seized by the need to enter the home of the two golden arches. Yes, in a city famed for its diverse eating possibilities, we stuffed a Big Mac and quarter pounder down our throats. Issy had a bap with the processed cheese in it as veggie burgers are unheard of in McDonalds over here. So yes, Ronald McDonald overpowered us and for that we are truly sorry!
