Where I stayed
After a cloudy first day prevented jumping out of a plane, a split second decision had me launching myself off an 800m cliff doing some paragliding. What an amazing view, soaring over the trees with the feeling that mz feet were only inches awaz from the tops of the pine trees below.
With clear skies, the following day looked like all was set for a dive. Hired a scooter and set off on the 100km round trip to Wieseman. What a ride up an amazing valley, some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. Unfortunately the wind was up on return and with the original plan to stay only for two days, it was possible the dive maybe off for good.
The hostel, Balmers, at Interlaken is absolutely brilliant
There is supposedly nowhere better in the world to jump out of a plane than over the Swiss Alps - so when theres an oppertunity why not. What an amazing experience. With a great group from the hostel gathered after the few days of not-quite-perfect weather off we head for the airport. A nervous wait to be fitted and harnessed and then up, up and away. Must say the plane and equiptment looked a lot safer than Latvia, but 15000 feet is a hell of a lot higher. To look out the plane as we climbed up above the snow capped mountains was truely breath taking. To watch the first jumper, Katie, plumet from the plane made it all of a sudden pretty real. Then it was showtime. I find it impossible to describe the feeling as you head towards the ground for 50 seconds at 200kmph - all I can say is it was brilliant and I will show you the video one day. Celebrations on the ground and later in the bar as our promo-videos were being played on the TVs were fantastic.
Another day, another extreme sport, it was time for canyoning
To Dicko, Jordan and Frenchie - what a brilliant bunch of guy to kick around with for near on a week. Katie and Ang, couldnt think of any better people to throw myself out of a plane or onto a canyon wall with. All the best with your travels guys, if you are ever in Adelaide, you know the story...
