Firstly we arrived in Riga, a city with an amazing old town, people call this place the Paris of the East. Yet it can not be stressed how different this place is from Estonia, there is undoubtedly the dodgiest feel in this place I have ever experienced. People get bashed, their arms broken or ripped off on a nightly basis. The hostel is full of people with eye witness accounts of random attacks, knife attacks and scams - and the first night here did nothing but confirm this on the streets.
After deciding to call it an early night and make an effort to turn the bad vibe feel of the place around the following day we ended up heading off from the hostel to a dodgy bunker on the other side of the city to fire some guns
Sunday was an awesome day. Chris and i travelled off to Sigulda on a day trip of action and adventure. Following a frame or three of bowling we hit the Latvian national Bobsledding facility for a quick belt down the track. Travelling at 80 kmph plus through tight turns with a hell of a lot of G's was more than a buzz but only a lead up to what was to come. If someone had said that I would be bungy jumping from a cable car in Latvia for under $50 Australian I would have laughed at them but thats exactly what I did. It was AWESOME. One of the most insane, adrenaline packed things I have ever done. The cable car 70m above the Gualda river with the perfect scenery of forests and ancient castles and bridges around us with hot air balloons floating past us was unreal. Such an adrenaline rush. The Hock was finally convinved to go and although it took few "Żou can jump now" prompts from the instructors he put in a sterling jump. I was absolutely shitting but made sure that i only allowed a brief look down and just kept up the inertia and jumped! What a brilliant experience, I would do it again tomorrow. Chad be ready, the biggest bungy in the world is in Switzerland - it is ours to take on mate!
