I'm on the bus to Boston now.  Stuart, Gretchen, and I drove to Ellsworth this morning so that Gretchen could go to the orthodontist.  After we left the ortho we stopped at Sylvia's (one of our favorite places to eat!) for breakfast then on to Bangor.  Gretchen and Stuart will be traveling with me as far as Logan.  Then they will fly to DC for a family reunion and I will fly to Spain.  I'm glad they are with me for the first 4 1/2 hours of my journey; makes me feel much more relaxed.

The bus is totally packed.  When they were loading up the bus, they actually came on to check and make sure nobody was in the restroom so that they knew how many seats were still open.  In Portland we have to change buses, but that will be our only stop on the way to Logan.

I got an email this morning from Olga Paloni.  She and her husband will be my host family in Spain.  She sounds very nice.  I'm glad she sent me an email because now I know that she is definitely expecting me Sunday afternoon.  I will arrive at her place somewhere between 2:00 and 2:30 pm.  She said that she will be at work but that her husband will be there and will wait to eat with me.  That sounds like it will be a slightly awkward meal -- two strangers eating together.  Olga will be home from work around 10:00 pm that day.  She sent me a photo of the two of them and their granddaughter; Olga and her husband look like they are close to my age.  That's nice.  Hopefully we will get along well.  I wonder if the granddaughter will visit much.  I hope so -- she looks really cute.

Well, I made it to Boston and am sitting at gate E4 waiting for my flight.  It is 4:10 and my flight is at 6:20 so I have quite a bit of time, but I would much rather being early than feeling rushed.  I had the easiest checkin at Logan ever!  I walked right up to the Iberia counter (no waiting at all) and then only had 4 people ahead of me in the line to go through security screening.  Amazing how fast it all was.

I hope I can get some sleep on the plane.  I feel pretty tired now.  I brought earplugs and that eye thing you put over your eyes, so I am all set to sleep.  :)  I usually don't have any problem falling asleep on the plane.  I also have my ipod with lots of music and podcasts, so I can lay in the dark and listen to something until I fall asleep.

It's great that Logan has free Wifi now.  2 years ago when I went to Spain the Wifi at Logan was not free.  Right now I am sitting at the spot that says "power up" so that my computer will be all charged when I get to Madrid.  I wonder if they have free wifi at that airport...
