From here on it changed from desert badlands to twisting mountain roads with chain up areas for winter snow. It's hard to imagine that you'd get snow out here, but some points are nearly 5000 feet up. At one of the highest points we crossed Stinking Water Pass and then Stinking Water Creek, then a bit futher on was Drinking Water Pass. The difference, I'm sure, it must have been obvious at the time. Not long after we crossed into mountain time losing an hour and then crossed the border into Idaho, the last state on mainland USA to check off the list and stopped in a small town called Caldwell, 26 miles from the state capital Boise. We eventually found the Chamber of Commerce and the 2 lovely ladies pointed us in the right direction for a campsite, supermarket and gave us a state map. Now armed with the necessary info, we got some shopping and then checked into a campsite run by a nice Dutch lady
