Tues 29th May cont.

The journey was smooth and only took half an hour so we were soon in South Orange. As we had a couple of hours to wait, we got comfy, watched an Ice Road Truckers on our laptop and had the odd wander now and then. Just after 7pm, we gave Rob's mobile a ring but it went onto voicemail, so we waited a bit longer and tried again. We got through this time and Rob came to the station to pick us up and drove us back to their lovely suburban house. It turns out that I should have made a note of Lori's number, then she could have collected us earlier, but only an hour or so. When we arrived Lori was just serving up some lovely homemade guacomole and turkey burgers for dinner. We then spent the evening chatting with our hosts, their son Ben and their neighbours Alan (from New Zealand), his wife Ronni and their son Jeremy, then got off to bed around midnight.

Weds 30th May.

Got up around 8.30am to wave goodbye to Lori as she went off to work, then had some breakfast. As it was still the cool of the morning, we headed off into town to have a look round. South Orange is a nice little town with a couple of nice churches, a cool looking fire station and a whole heap of cafes and ice cream shops, heaven. After a bit of wandering, we headed back through the park to the house where we managed to skype Cat's parents before having lunch. We then decided to spend the afternoon relaxing in front of the TV watching a few films. Later we enjoyed a meal of bbq ribs with Ben and Lori until Rob came home from work. We then chatted for a while and then went off to bed.

Thurs 31st May.

Up just before 8am, had breakfast then waved goodbye to Rob as he headed off work. Around 9am, we loaded our gear into the boot (sorry trunk) of Lori's car and she drove us to the train station. We then said our goodbyes to Lori and thanked her for their wonderful hospitality and then caught the next train back to New York.
