We arrived around 6pm at our friends and were welcomed in again. We settled in, cooked & shared our last meal, chilli. We then sat up until around 1am chatting again, when we thought it was about time to hit the sack.
Had a lie-in and got up around 8.45am, from a really toasty bed. We had breakfast and as a surprise, Alana, cooked us a waffle in her Mickey Mouse waffle maker. Tasty. We then emptied Brian out and re-packed our rucksacks ready for the train ride to LA tomorrow. Later on, we popped out to pick up a few supplies, run a few errands and see where we would be leaving Brian until we return. This done, we returned to Alana's and cooked dinner, (lamb chops with roasties and Ben & Jerry's Mint Choc Chunk ice cream for dessert), enjoying another evening of good company
Got up early at 8am this morning as we had a lot to do. After some breakfast, we finished packing and then drove out to where we were leaving Brian. We chatted with the guys at the house and then parked Brian up before saying our goodbyes to our faithful friend. Hopefully they will take care of him and he's still in one piece when we get back next year. He deserves a rest after 26,000 miles in only 6 months taking us from coast to coast. Alana then drove us back to the house and after a bite to eat for lunch, (finishing off the ice cream), she drove us to San Luis Obispo train station to catch the Amtrak Coast Starlight back to LA. After saying more goodbyes, we caught the train around 3.20pm and settled in to our seats for the five and a half hour journey. We were now travelling back along some of the route that we took back in May and enjoyed a rather cloudy sunset over the Pacific. Once it got dark, we booted up our laptop and watched the movie, The Chronicles of Narnia; Prince Caspian, finishing half an hour before arriving into LA.
