30th Nov. cont.

Our first stop was at Hearst Castle, but unfortunately, there was no more spaces left on their tours until tomorrow. Not too perturbed, we decided we could always visit them on our way back to Atascadero or maybe even when we return to pick up Brain the in spring. We continued along the coast road for 4.4 miles, (figure given by employee at Hearst Castle, not just over 4 miles but 4.4miles), stopping at an elephant seal (Northern Elephant Seals) view point. At this time of year, the males are beginning to fight for their turf and when we arrived there were a couple of males seemingly having a go at each other. A little while later, as the sun would soon be setting, we continued our scenic drive, now looking for a campsite for the night. After a rather long winding, close to the edge, (thank goodness Americans drive on the right), drive we found a forest road up into the hills and after a bit of searching a nice hidden away spot. We parked up, watched the sunset and then cooked dinner. After watching the movie, Terminator Salvation, we got ready for bed and tucked ourselves in. Hopefully, it won't be too cold or cramped, as the last few days we've been used to lovely warm double beds!

1st Dec.

Up around 7.30am after a not too bad night. After breakfast, we were on the road around 8.30am heading along the coastal road towards San Francisco.
