After Brian had had his wash, we got back on the road and headed east to San Luis Obispo, stopping outside a local police/fire station to have lunch in their car park as we couldn't find a rest area. Once we'd had lunch, we carried on until we'd reached San Luis Obispo, fueled up, bought a few bits for the party and then drove round to surprise our friends Karen and Dale. Alana had made it there before us and was waiting in the door way and walked us round to optimise the surprise. It took Karen and Dale a few moments to realise who we were, (it had been 6 months after all) and excitedly accepted us in and quickly decided that we were staying with them tonight. We gladly accepted and got busy meeting other people in the group who were interested in the new visitors from out of town. The evening was a lot of fun with some lovely homemade food to eat and some great company to share it with.
Had a nice lie-in this morning and got up around 9am and had breakfast, after skyping Cat's parents. We then spent the morning sitting chatting to Karen and Dale about our travels and life in general. After some more delicious home made soup for lunch, we headed off to Montaņa De Oro state park on the coast, 20 minutes drive away. Once there we could tell why they call it the mountain of gold with all the lovely golden sandy coves and golden wildflowers also known as Montana Poppies. We had a lovely walk along the cliff tops looking down across the Paciffic Ocean between craggy inlets. A couple of hours later we returned to Karen & Dale's, showered and got ready to head off to Alana & Alan's for dinner. We had a lovely time. great company & delicious food. We returned to Karen & Dale's and headed off to bed, where we watched a movie, Four Christmas's, before falling asleep in our lovely double bed.
Again got up around 9am, had breakfast and chatted with Karen, as Dale had gone off to work around 7am this morning. We sat and chatted for a while until Karen had to take a conference call. We then packed and made plans of what to do today. In the afternoon we were heading to Alana's but until then we thought we would have a look round San Luis Obispo. Once we'd found somewhere to park, we walked down to the Mission and at 1.15pm had a tour of the church and grounds. After a fasinating history of the church, we had lunch in the van and headed off out of SLO and arrived at Alana's around 3pm.
