24th Nov. cont.

We had breakfast at a view point and made a stop at Bridalveil Fall before arriving at the village. We then parked up and headed to Lower Yosemite Fall. Yosemite National Park is famed for it's waterfalls and these were beautiful, but we had been warned that due to the season they may not be much more than a trickle. If these were trickles, we would love to see them in full flowing glory! Next we headed to the Visitor Centre to see if there were any other short walks we could do. Most of the roads were closed due to snow, so really it was only a few hikes available. We were told that a nice walk was to Mirror Lake which was still open, so we jumped on the free shuttle and got off at the trail head. However, due to rock slides a couple of years ago, the route had been changed and we now had to walk along the road, but as it was fall/winter time the road was closed to vehicles. When we arrived at the lake, we were disappointed. As the name suggests, we were expecting a lake that had reflections of the mountains around it, but the water level was so low that there wasn't much of a reflection and any reflection there was iced over. Anyway, we walked back to the shuttle and returned to Brian. Heading out of the park, we found a nice spot to stop for lunch and then we continued the hour or so drive out of the park.
