Where I stayed
Mystery lights viewing area
We then fuelled up at Presidio, at a more reasonable but still expensive US$3.799 per gallon and headed north towards Marfa, again stopping at a border check point. This was where we were going to camp for the night as we were ghost light hunting. Just outside there is a viewing area for people to look out for these mysterious lights. No one quite knows what they are or where they come from. We got to the viewing area at around 6.30pm and there was already a few people there with binoculars, staring out into space. We met a group of people that make a habit of coming here and they explained what we were looking for. We then went to have dinner but Cat stayed out talking to the 'experts' and while she was there a light appeared. Dean came out to have a look and then we went back to the van to eat dinner, tonight chilli! We then decided to stay for a bit longer and see if anything more exciting turned up than just this single light in the distance and if we can, camp here
Up around 7am, (previously 8am as the clocks went back last night - later than back home), after a good and bad night. Dean's alarm went off to remind us to turn the clocks back and then a very loud train came passed. After that it wasn't too bad. We had breakfast and then drove into town to fill up at a much more reasonable rate of US$3.399 per gallon.
