We had made a plan the night before of what route we were taking to nowhere and so jumped onto the highway and headed off towards St Joseph and then followed the state line up to cross over into Nebraska at the first opportunity. However, luck was against us. The Missouri River had other ideas. Recently, it had burst its banks and wiped out most of the roads crossing it, so we had to turn around and return to St Joseph and cross into Kansas first. They say things happen for a reason, but I was struggling on this one, until Dean pointed out that if we had not changed our route we would not have been able to pick up a Kansas map. As it happens we passed a Missouri Welcome Centre on our way back to St Joseph and they had most of the surrounding states maps. When we crossed into Kansas, again there was no visitor information. We were lucky to have got a map from Missouri
Happy Halloween. Woke up to a cold but bright morning around 8am. Packed up the van and headed off to find a nice sunny spot for breakfast. We found a nice spot by Lake Milford, in the sun and stopped to have our porridge to warm up. A little while later, we finished breakfast and then headed off towards Oklahoma. We stopped for lunch in a small town just inside the state line and then contninued on until we found a campsite.
