2nd Sept cont.

Just before reaching the park, we stopped to look at the tallest lighthouse in Canada. We were going to have a look in, but the $2 entry fee only got you in the grounds, they wanted another $7 each for a guided tour. So we took photos from outside the fence and carried on into the park. We paid our $7.80 each entrance fee and had a look in the Interpretive Centre and then walked round the board walk. After that we got back in the van and drove down to Cap-Bon-Ami view point to look at the amazing tiled limestone cliffs. From there we could have done a 2.2km walk to a tower, but as it was nearly 300 metres uphill we decided that this view would do. We then drove round to the south side of the park to walk 8km (round trip on a gentle gravel path) to Cap Gaspe to look at the light house and view from there. Once at the top we were surprised to see two porcupines snuffling around in the grass for food not bothered by anyone. The ones we'd seen before were only to eager to puff out their spines and climb a tree to safety. After that we walked back to the van and drove on to Gaspe stopping off at Fort Penouille to look at the guns.
