26th Aug.

Got up at 8am, had breakfast and left the campsite around 10.30am heading for Canada's capitol Ottawa. An hour or so up the highway, we arrived into the city and tried to find somewhere to park. We found a church car park that only charged $9 all day, so we parked there and headed to the main attraction, the Parliament Buildings. We queued up for our free tour tickets of the outside, east and center buildings. All the tours were fascinating but my favourite was the library and it was really cool to see a statue of our queen reminding us of the colony. After the tours we had a wander round some of the cities buildings and to a most impressive flight of locks from the River Ottawa down to the Rideau. Heading back we walked through Centennial Park and down to city hall which is a very modern looking building, then back to the van to cook dinner. After dinner we wandered back to into town via McD's for dessert and then sat outside the Parliament Buildings for this evening's impressive light show depicting locals and canadian life. When the show finished we walked back to the van and drove out to the Walmart we had picked for tonight's campsite and got off to bed.
