20th Aug cont.

We made it to the whirlpool and a bit further on to a viewpoint, but we were still having fuel problems with the van. Frustrated we stopped at a farm to ask if there were any mechanics nearby and they phoned round for us (back to friendly Canadians) but were told that as it's Saturday afternoon we were pretty much on our own. So we limped off to a nearby (expensive) campsite and booked in for the afternoon and night. We decided as there wasn't much we could do about it for now, we'd relax and made use of the sites swimming pool and off and on internet. The wi-fi wasn't the best we've ever had but we did manage to Skype Cat's parents "eventually". As we had time, Dean decided now would be a good time to seal the windows and try and stop the leaks. Around 8pm we made dinner listening to a band that was playing at the campsites entertainment hall. We then settled in for the night and got off to bed.

21st Aug.

After a stormy night of thunder and lightning and plugging up leaks from the rain as it woke us up dripping on us (perfectly timed, as the sealant needs at least several hours to dry and a week to fix), we decided to have a lie in till around 9.30am. After some breakfast we caught up on a few things online and then got ready to limp off to St Catherines where we could get the van looked at. Before we left a mechanic on the campsite advised us to change the fuel line as it's probably got a leak. Now, as we could only limp along at 10mph it took a few hours to drive the 16kms to St Catherines and a few wrong turns here and there didn't help. We did pass a large canal on the way with some pretty big ships going in and out of the locks. Who needs to go to Panama.
