16th Aug.

Got up at 7.30am had breakfast and got off to McD's to use their wi-fi to find our route out of the city. All started ok but then the road signs disappeared and we got a bit lost again. We found ourselves in a town on the outskirts of Chicago, fueled up in a garage and asked for directions. Before we had got lost however, Brian clocked up 99,999(9) miles and rolled over to 00,000(0) in the car park of the North Bear Motel. So now we have a very low mileage van! Back on the right track we headed over the border, into Indiana and down to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. From the Visitor Centre we drove down along Lakefront Drive (where they had no parking signs apart from golf carts parking only) and then to Mount Baldy. Mount Baldy is the biggest sand dune in the area and gives a lovely view of the lake and the surrounding coastline.
