Next stop was the road to Kootenay National Park where we drove down to the Continental Divide where the rivers on one side ran down to the Atlantic and on the other side, to the Pacific. Then we carried on a bit and stopped at Marble Canyon and then on to Paint Pots. Paint Pots is where the land has minerals in that when different amounts of water are added the colour changes. Indian tribes used the “Ochre Beds” to paint their bodies and as a colouring in foods. Whilst we were there, someone pointed out to us a Grizzly Bear Paw print, it was huge! We then drove back out of Kootenay National Park and back out (passing an Eagles nest with young in, on top of a
bridge) to the Bow Valley Parkway road at Castle Junction with a lovely
view of Castle mountain. As soon as we were back on the road, we had to
stop to look at 3 male Elk's one of which had some pretty impressive
antlers! Back in Banff National Park we continued on to Banff.
