14th Oct.

Had a lovely nights sleep and got up around 8.30am and headed down to breakfast. This morning scrambled eggs, in Peru most hostels provide B&B which is usually bread and jam, but here we get the choice of scrambled or fried eggs and bread and jam! I like it here! After breakfast we headed out to see what Miraflores has to offer. Everything a big city can, plenty of shops, restaurants and best of all the Sea! We've not seen the sea for a few weeks now and nearly forgot what it looked like! So we headed to the nearest food shop via JFK park, bought some lunch and headed to the beach for a picnic, well we would have but the beach was a good hour walk around a cliff so we sat on the wall and looked at the sea view. After lunch we had a wander round the cliff top sites and decided to brave the walk down to the beach which meant negotiating six lanes of traffic across the expressway! Traffic avoided we got onto the dirt sand and then the bolder like stones that sunk into the sea. As we are rather out of season the beach is deserted but we thought we just had to touch the South Pacific Ocean. So I ran down to the sea got my hand wet and legged it back before the waves came crashing back up the shore. It was surprisingly warm. Later after a lot of sodding around we managed to book a flight to Iquitos for Saturday, so after that we decided to treat ourselves to a slap up meal in, Burger King followed up with a Mcflurry Princessa.

15th Oct.

Got up around 8.30 with a bang bang bang, workmen working on the building next door! For breakfast I had boiled eggs this morning and Cat had scrambled, thankfully an American with much better Spanish than ours explained the runny yolk part for me so they were delicious! We then went round to the agent that we booked our flight with to pay for the tickets, then took a bus to the main center of Lima. We got there at 12.00 just in time for the changing of the guard which is quite long and drawn out compared to London, and the Police won't let you cross the road to get a closer look through the railings but was interesting to say the least. We then got the bus back to Miraflores and went down to the beach, this time from the other side than yesterday which was much better. As it had been quite a nice day we decided to wait for the sunset but after waiting a while the smog or clouds covered it so that was a waste of time. We then headed back to the food part of town to get something to eat but couldn't decide what to have so we ended up in BK again, oh well we probably won't see one again until the US so what the hey!

!6th Oct.

Got up about 8 and had nice runny yolk boiled eggs again, yummy! Then did a first and checked in for our flight on-line so as to get seats together. We then had to get the boarding passes printed and as the hostel had no printer we went round to the travel agent we booked with and they kindly printed them for us. After that we had time for a wander round did some banking got some lunch and then headed back to the hostel to wait for the taxi to the airport. Another white knuckle ride in a taxi later and we were at the airport for our flight to Iquitos which ran a little late and was a bit bumpy but got us there in the end!
