When you arrive at Charles DeGaul Airport in Paris, you might be tempted to think that you will be inside the airport shortly. But arriving only a few minutes late with an almost 2 hour layover meant we barely made it to our flight, despite arriving in and departing from the same terminal. After a 20 minute bus ride and a 45 minute walk, we arrived at the departure lounge just in time to board the plane.
The flight from Paris to Prague is very short. There is just enough time to serve everyone a drink. Our plane was filled with interesting customers: a Czech model, many Vietnamese workers living and working in Prague, a tight, shiny-faced older women, lots of tourists from most continents, young and old, and a few Czech and other European business people
We're staying in one place this trip: in a spacious apartment in the middle of Prague, 2 minutes from the Old Town Square. One of our hosts, Tomasz, handed us a map and gave us a mini-tour to get our bearings, within minutes of arriving. We're just off a little alley. Tomasz points out a couple places to eat and a way to the square that is not so crowded with Tourists. Already I can tell that Prague is amazingly beautiful.
All we can manage this evening is a short walk to Staroměské Náměsti, a meal out and shopping for a few basic supplies: beer and milk. Around the corner from our apartment is a local eatery where T. discovers a yummy chicken noodle soup and mum and dad discover $1 a glass beer.
Inside our apartment, we discover that we can drink the water! I don't remember the last time we could do that during our travels.
