We arrive late and so head out for a beer. We find a small bar with draft Sol on tap, as it starts raining when we arrive we take the opportunity (is it a sign?) to fully appreciate the drink.
Why Guadalajara you may ask? Well our interest lies another 2hr bone shaking bus journey further on in the small town off Tequila. It´s a lovely town with a strange aroma hanging over it... smells like a brewery, not half.
So we visit the main attraction, the Rojena, better known as the Jose Cuervo brewery. The tour explains fully how Tequila is produced and the difference in types of Tequila (white, gold, reposado, anejo) and does not hold back on the samples of each one. We even get to try the raw "cask strength" version thats 55%. Ouch, firewater. We decide we like reposado the most... but it has been a difficult choice.
The journey back to Guadalajara seems to take half the time...
A day looking round the city and then a night bus to return to the DF (Mexico City) where we have another night in the lovely Marriot to chill out before heading over to Merida and the Yucatan peninsula.
