Where I stayed
Fortunately we are in the JW Marriot and so our room is ready and is as comfortable as you´d expect! Snoozed, cleaned and a few beers later we find a little taco stand nearby and load up on good cheap mexican food. Bliss.
Sightseeing, its been the Mexican election recently and they´ve not gone well... widespread corruption and illegal voting practices seem to be reported everywhere. As a result the Paseo de la Reforma through the city is one long line of political protesters camped out waiting for the final verdict on the 6th Sept (the vote was on the July 2nd).
A visit to Mexico City would not be complete without seeing Teotihuacan (teh-oh-tih-wah-kan). It is simply awesome, the place is huge. We climb the pyramid of the sun (now widely understood to be a temple to water and rebuilt incorrectly in the early 20th century). The money shot has to be the view from the top of the moon pyramid looking down the avenue of the dead.
We have gained a few days extra by moving quicker than anticipated through Peru and so, never ones to overlook an opportunity, we decide to head to Guadalajara for a few days...
