Peru!
Entry 5 of 5 | show all | print this entry |
Hola from Peru!
It´s been a long trip, but I´m finally settled into the home base. My roommates are great (although I´ve only met 1 of 3 so far), and the room is ridiculously tiny for 4 people. The city is located just as everyone said- in the basin of mountains, so that every direction you turn are these huge imposing mountains that you can barely see the top of sometimes.
I´m taking it pretty easy today- after this I might go down to the plaza and look around, or maybe just go back to the house and read or sleep. I´m running on 3 out of the past 36 hours or so, and I think it´s getting to me. Tomorrow will be plenty busy enough- orientation, tour of the city, everything.
I´ll try to figure out AIM Express, but there´s some issues with pop up blockers so MSN might be better. So everyone should get an MSN account. Yep. I think I´ll go now...maybe I´ll get some pictures up in the next few days.
Lo vemos!

CCS in ayacucho? (reply) Mar 26, 2008 13:49 EST by mirandaclare
Hi! I don't know you but I'm going to be doing a CCS internship in Ayacucho this summer, and I stumbled across your blog while researching good hikes + sights off the beaten path in Ayacucho. Do you have any advice? How did you like CCS? Do you know of any good parks etc for hiking, or have suggestions for authentic little restaurants and stores?
Thanks so much!
Miranda

Hola Cassie,
Not sure if you remember me but we chatted on the phone about Ayacucho and the CCS experience. I volunteered in September.
I'll be following your posts... I'm so jealous that you are there now! :) Ayacucho really is a fabulous place and you will LOVE Rudy, Marisol, Walter, etc, etc. I know I just fell in love with the people of Ayacucho. I will always treasure my... show all

I hope that all is going well. I will share your experiences with the teachers, staff and students in our summer school. Let us know if there is anything that we can do to assist you in your efforts.

Hi there - sooo glad to hear that you arrived safe & sound. I replied once, but I don't think it posted so I'm writing again. I wasn't sure that the Internet Cafe would be open on Sundays... and so we were expecting a phone call. But this is good too - just to know you're safe & sound.
Looking forward to hearing more details - Love Mom

Sooo good to hear that you arrived safe & sound. I wasn't sure if the internet cafe would be open on Sunday, and thought we'd get a phone call.
Becky played a shut-out for one of the games Sat, so they won 3 of the 5 games and played a semi-final on Sunday. BUt they lost that one, so we came home.
Looking forward to hearing more from you - get a good night's sleep.
Love Mom
