Today we caught an early bus to Uxmal, Mayan ruins. We got there and put our packs in storage for the day so we could explore the ruins. Our plan was to catch a bus later that day to Campeche. Following a map in the Lonely Planet we headed into the ruins, they are amazing, we were able to climb to the top of a bunch of them. The views from the top looking out at the rest of the site and into the distance were beautiful. We explored for about 4 hours with no rush because we figured that buses passed by Uxmal heading for Campeche every hour or so, since they left Merida for Uxmal that often. We even saw one ruin that was not yet excavated, it is really neat to see what these buildings looked like after the jungle has swallowed them up. It was like finding the building before anyone else had, pretty cool.
We got back to get our bags and head out to the road for the bus, stopping by the ticket window to ask what time the bus would be by. Right now she said. 01 View of Uxmal fromt he top of a temple

. damn, we grabbed our bags and hurried up the road only to see other travelers heading back from where the bus had dropped them off. We missed it by 5 minutes. Back at the site we where told that the next bus is in 4 hours. We actually only waited about 2 hours because we got a bus to a small town and then transferred to Campeche. All in all it was not to bad but we got to Campeche much later than we had hoped.
We checked into a place called the monkey hostel, and into a room with the first bed we slept in since we were at Phil´s house. As usual we had not eaten much today and were both very hungry (which also means crabby) so we went in search of food. This was found in a very cheap taqueria. This was day two in a four day ruins blitz...
The next day we set out to Edzna Ruins. It took a bit of walking around and asking for directions but we found the bus to the ruins, when we got off the bus we made sure we knew what time the return bus would be, not wanting to repeat the Uxmal scenario again. At the ruins we pretty much had the place to ourselves, it was a small site compared to some of the others we have seen but just as cool. We climbed to the top of the tallest temple to get some great views of the site and the surroundings. Even with this being day 3 of our blitz we were not bored of ruins. They are so cool to explore and look at and try to imagine what they were like when they had inhabitants 02 More Mayan stairs -- getting a work out!

. We got out to the road early to be sure not to miss the bus. The bus was full of high school kids coming home from boarding school and we had to stand up for the hour ride back to Campeche. Some of the boys were laughing at me, I think cause I am so tall that my head was just about touching the ceiling, and then some girls took a picture of me with a cell phone.
Back in Campeche we got a bus to the Fuerte de San Miguel, a Mayan artifact and history museum based in an old Spanish fort. The building was very cool and had amazing views out over the Gulf of Mexico. The museum itself was great, it housed some famous jade burial masks for kings. It was very interesting and as usual I was done way before Casey was cause she is better at museums than I am, I just chilled on the roof taking in the views.
Back in town we walked around to see the city lit up at night, it is beautiful. We had a really nice dinner and headed back to the hostel to clean up and get ready for our late night bus ride.

Cell Phones
They had cell phones???? That surprises me. I have been envisioning you is very remote, primitive areas. I guess there is a mix, especially since you two are doing a great job of emailing! Happy Travels!
