We started with a crisp overcast day, 4 degrees Celsius which turned into bright sunshine by the afternoon and a beautiful red sky in the early evening. Christie has almost recovered although the rest of Buenos Aires is caught up in 'the Grip', their version of the swine flu pandemic. Many locals are wearing masks, some wear them in the streets.

It was our second day at Spanish school, the kids seem to be having fun and looking forward to the school every day. Christie and I seem to be advancing quite well, partly because the Spanish teachers deliberately do not speak any English and when we don't understand she helps us to work it out through words we do know or by gestures. Jody and Niamh are convinced their teacher doesn’t understand English. After lunch we joined in with a theatre class where we participated in activities using only Spanish again and it was fun. Late afternoon we took our first ride on the public system using the Subte (subway) to the Plaza Italia just three stops. It was a bit of a wild goose chase as I didn’t really have a plan, we ended doing up doing nothing and opted for a brisk 30 minute walk home.

At our homestay Jody and Niamh continued with some school homework and wrote in their diaries.  Our host bore news of her newly arrived granddaughter born in Sydney today just one hour before, we celebrated with some red wine.

Jody's Story
Today we had our 2nd Spanish Lesson at our Spanish School. It was muy muy muy fun. We blew up lots of balloons and said what colours they were. We also played lots of games like memory and stuff like that. After we went to our Spanish school we went to Café Matinez. There was lots of yummy stuff there. After that we went back to the school and went to the theater class. We were a bit late but we were lucky that we were the only people there. After that class we stayed at the school and played Ping Pong and Foosball. After that we went to the Subway for 3 stops and walked home from Italia Plaza. After we got home I played, had dinner and went to bed!

Niamh's Story

Today it was very cold, it was 4 % so we had to wear lots of clothes. We went to Mc Donald’ s. Jody and I had bagels. I only had half my bagel so dad had the rest. We went to Spanish school today, it was lots of fun. After that we had lunch. Jody and I had folded over pizza with crisps and salad each. After lunch we went back to school to have Theater Class. It was pretty fun, I guess. Then we played a bit of ping-pong and some foosball. After that we went home had dinner, brushed our teeth and went to bed.
