At the airport pre-flight, in transit at Sydney, I have received a renewed offer from those prospective tenants. They will go higher after all and can move in Monday. If no-one comes up with an application at our open house at 9:30 we will accept. Alex will make the final decision, he has a really big day today.

As we landed in Buenos Aires I Received a text to confirm those tenants will move in,hoorah.

Well we arrived in Buenos Aires on a bright sunny morning. Not a cloud in the sky but a crisp 10 degrees. For some reason QANTAS upgraded us on our 14 hour flight from Sydney to premium economy which made our flight very enjoyable, and so we were spoilt.  Despite the mask clad swine flu welcoming committee, getting through customs, getting bags and to Fernando our formula one driver was the quickest I had ever experienced at an international airport, 15 minutes at most.

We were whisked through some grey and graffiti decorated suburbs at lightning pace and were with our host by mid-day in the suburb of Palermo. Our host is a charming lady and knew a little English but not enough to make it easy, perfect if we are to learn Spanish. Her daughter's  is in Sydney as it happens, due to give birth this week, an exciting time  for our host.

After a tour of our new residence we launched ourselves into the unfamiliar streets armed with phrasebook, pocket map and a handful of pesos. We ventured just a few blocks to the local supermarket for some basics and then to a café for some pasta lunch and coffee. By the time we had finished lunch both Niamh and Jody were almost asleep on their feet, it would be about 5am in Brisbane. We returned back to our new home for the next two week without getting lost, amazingly, and were all out for the count a few minutes later. We woke a few hours later to the enjoy a home cooked meal with our host and some interesting discussions and half sentences in English and Spanish, most of the time we were able to work out what we meant, I think. We retired a little later. I listened for a while to the nocturnal Argentinians of the Buenos Aires night before I slumped into the night.
