What I did
I wasn't stupidly hungover, just totally shattered! But it's the city that never sleeps, so you can't! The weather wasn't great today, but we'd planned all week that this was going to be an inside day anyway, so we headed to Kathryn's 'NY must see', The Guggenheim. Readers be aware - IT'S SHUT ON A THURSDAY!!!!!! Seriously???? We never shut our museums or galleries (do we?).
Bit annoying as we'd paid for a cab up here and didn't really have any other plans, they suggested the Metropolitan Museum of Art which was only down the road, and it seems like a decent enough alternative.
It's bloody huge
We met up with Jen that night, popped our dresses on and headed for a night on the town. Our intention was to go to the restaurant/bar at the top of the Rockafeller Center.... problem was, our guide book was old and the restaurant shut two years ago... DOH!!! We asked the very nice man where else he could recommend with a view, and we headed the The View on the 48th floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Sqaure. NYC's only revolving restaurant and lounge....... Coooooool! It was an experience I tell you that much, it takes an hour to do a full rotation, and it's a shame that it wasn't great visability, but just to say that we had a cocktail in a revolving restaurant in Times Square in New York, is pretty darn special. However it came with a price tag, $8 cover charge (just for parking our arses), $15-16 a cocktail, tax and then 20% tip. Came to... wait for it.... ready for this.... $86.71....! But despite this, the cocktail was awesome, the place was cool and it's a once in a lifetime experience.... http://www.theviewnyc.com/
We couldn't afford to stay there for the evening (shame), so went back to the hotel area for dinner, to an italian that was reccommended, and then on for more cocktails, Obviously!!
It was a good night, I was daring and tried some really random drinks, included one with jalepeno tequila.... mmmmm tasty. We played 'I have never' and learned a whole heap of interesting facts about each other. But I'm sorry, what happens in New York, stays in New York, and quite frankly I have an awful memory at the best of times....
