We made it!  We have just unpacked our suitcases and are in Central San Jose at the Aurola Holiday Inn.  Initial impressions are that we won't be going out tonight as the streets seem to be busy but a bit risky.  Everything has roll down shutter doors or large iron fences.  It seems property crime is common.  Our clothing makes us stick out like a sore thumb as La Tourista!

I brought along a Dora The Explorer doll of my daughters so she can see her travelling the world.  I will upload a photo in a bit.

We had a bit of "hilarity" in DFW Dallas Airport.  We were enjoying our lay over in the Admiral AA lounge thinking we had all the time in the world.  We heard our flight "boarding" announcement, but thought it must be wrong as it was only 4:50pm and the flight didn't leave until 6:20.  Fortunately we heard the announcement, as I had mistakenly assumed that Dallas was only 1 hour ahead like Costa Rica.  I knew that Dallas is 2 hours ahead, so I am not sure how that slipped, but I guess it is because Costa Rica does not observe day light savings time.  They are so close the equator there is no real value as almost all of their days are 12 hours long.  They had just started boarding as we got to the gate, so it was not a big deal, but we cut it much closer than either of us would have liked.

We are both ready to pack it in for the night, but at least I have discovered there is free Wifi in the hotel room so we can keep blogging!

Glad you made the flight. Mom and I missed one in Phoenix a few years ago as we didn't hear the gate change!

You are quite safe in CR - crime against a person is rare, but always a good idea to be vigilant.

Hope you enjoy San Jose.
I look forward to your next posting
