We finally get in the river (reportedly a class 3.5 - 4 river) and have a great time. Our guide is hilarious and tells us that he is crazy. The last time I went with a guide, she was terrible and had us play little childrens games, but this time it was much better. At one point, our guide, Luis, made everyone in the raft jump out into the river
After we got out of the river, got out of the infernal wetsuits and showered, we went to the little bar nearby. The english guy that I have not informed you about yet was there again. He was the one who told me before I got in the wetsuit, that a buddy of his, happily married had worn a wetsuit and gotten crabs from it. Imagine telling your wife a story like that, Eh? Going by the name of Erin, he was referred to by a girl that he met, then we met, as akin to Brad Pitt. He later referred to himself as "that asshole english fellow." We ate and had a beer at the bar, which was overpriced, costing 30 pesos for two sandwiches and two beers, which would usually cost about 15 pesos, but still cheap in American dollars. We asked when the bus was going to take us back to the city, and got many different answers, some being half an hour, and others being three hours. In the end, after meeting a couple (partners) and a couple of cartographers, (the same couple, who we later had dinner with, it took 4.5 hours for a bus to take us back to Mendoza. After leaving at 8AM, returning 12 hours later for a great, but only one hour actually on the river, we were a bit dissappionted.
Tomorrow we will be leaving for Malarg˙e.
