Today we are on an Amazing Race Paraguay. No, I didn't get into a car accident. And it's not that amazing of a race... or a race at all. They teamed us up and sent us to Asuncion. We had to figure out how to get here via bus and then visit a couple different places and then we have a meeting at the PCHQ. Woo. Here are some random things you might be wondering about:
I eat pretty well. PC pays my family for me to live there, and we eat really grissley beef (my fam loves beef ribs...) and we eat chicken. Nothing too wierd yet. Its actually pretty much an all-carb diet (sorry mom). For example, A typical meal has pasta with a little bit of tomato on it, and like 3 small chunks of an unknown meat, madioca, which is basically like a potato, but starchier, and some bread to wash it down. This is also a highly caffineted society. In the morning, it's Mate (tea), then coffee, then all day they drink Terere (iced tea) then the move back to coffee and some cola, then at night it' more mate. So yeah, I haven't had a problem with that.
The interenet costs mas or menos 3500 Guaranis for 30 min. The phone costs about 18000 Guaranis for 5 min. So I try to use the internet more. Someday I'll have a cellphone, and it will be free for me if yall decide to call it.
I haven't taken pictures yet, because I don't want to pull out my camera yet. Allthough my family is pretty well off for Paraguay, I think, so it probably wouldn't be an issue.
At schoo, we have our own little farm and now our own vegetable garden. We're also going to be getting chickens, which is sweet, but I know nothing about them. My fam had chickens and 2 cows. Also, 2 dogs and a pregnant cat... but dogs and cats arent really pets here, they are fed, but they have to stay outside and often get kicked and stuff. Obviously this is very hard for me to deal with.
Thats all on this front. Things are hard somedays and easy others. Language class is frustrating, but I'm making it through. Hope all is well.

gooo LOOWEELLL!!!
hey good to hear that you aren't starving down there! when I was in Spain, staying at a host family's house, it was pretty weird when they all starting talking and I had no idea what they were saying... and sometimes they would look over at me and forget that part about the conversation!! ha!! Should've listened more in HS Spanish class!!... and I guess a little more to the instructions of the trip... and the guidelines... about the no drinking thing... ha! Anyways, good to hear from ya! I sent you something yesterday, so I hope it gets to you! I've had Mate before-- its really strong! My college professor brought it in... do you drink it out of like a coconut cup and through a straw? That's what we did, at like 7:30pm and I was up forever that night! Its soo good and so regional down there! Hey- hope you're having a blast!! Nothing new up here- same old, same old!
