Grand Canyon National Park: Part IV
Another day we spent taking a motorcycle ride along Desert View Drive (about 20 or so miles) to the Watchtower and back. The Desert View Drive provides a lesser-seen side of the south rim of the Canyon. It is undeveloped, and you can stop anywhere you like and hike your own way through the woods to the edge. We found a great spot on a rock ledge overlooking the canyon for lunch. We experimented a bit with the camera, (notice the "feet" shots) trying to add depth and dimension to the photos. One of the most challenging parts of this trip has been trying to capture shots for the blog that convey the feeling of the places we have been. With landscapes and vistas as vast as these, this is virtually impossible. The pictures are just to give you a sense of the views beyond Mather point.
Our luck was better for wildlife watching as we actually saw a coyote in the woods along the road and a horned toad at the Indian ruins that are on the way to the Watchtower. Unfortunately, we didn't get a very good shot of the coyote, but we did get the horned toad.
