Where I stayed
Had a spare day in this area before heading to Key Largo tomorrow. (Hopefully we will be going to Key Largo tomorrow. There might be a tropical storm heading into the Keys so we might go a day later). Anyway, with our spare day, we decided to go to Busch Gardens. It is supposedly a really nice entertaining place and we have not been there before. We got there around 11:30 a.m. as we had a lot of work to get done on the computer before we left. Our first shock was the price. Oh My Gosh. They do not have any shyness in asking for a whopping amount to get into the park.
I will say that we had a good day and a good time. But I also have to put qualifications on it. What does Busch Gardens think it is??? They have animals but not enough to be a zoo. They have rides but not enough to be an amusement park. They have flowers and topiary but in spite of their name, they don't have enough to be a botanical garden
Food is quite expensive which is not unusual for any park of this kind but it helps if the food is at least tasty. The food we had was not. That didn’t stop the seagulls and ibis’ from begging for it. Every area of the park had the corresponding food stalls with cutesy names to match the section in which it was located. Every area of the park also had corresponding souvenir stores. I don’t mind that because it’s pretty much standard fare for any large park of this type.
In spite of the above mentioned grips, we did have a fairly good time. The animals they do have look well cared for and seem to be in good accommodations. In one section of the park, you could see some of the younger animals up close and personal
We didn’t get to do many rides. We stood almost an hour in line for one of the small roller coasters. We stood almost an hour in line for the river rapids and then were completely soaked in this ride. As it was a hot day, that was ok. When we got to the wooden old fashioned roller coaster, there were not a lot of people waiting for it so we were almost able to walk right onto the ride. All these rides were good. The other rides had lines way too long to stand in the hot sun and hot day to wait for them.
Finally it was time to go. We had wandered around the entire park. We meandered out to our car and then got stiff as we drove to the hotel. Woe for us being older and having osteoarthritis.
