An early start this morning - 6am. After packing tents and eating a breakfast of cereal, toast and eggs, we set off at 6:30am due to the long drive today. The idea is that we will drive through to the Namibian border and camp on the Namibian side of the border. It's a long long drive, so after everyone taking a quick nap on the truck (or as much of a nap as possible considering the amount of bumps we went over!), we start up a game of shithead (between me, Hilary, Dan, Lisa and Russell) and ended up playing for the whole drive! My shithead playing abilities have obviously diminished since I last played, as I ended up being the shithead eight times in a row, and I get the feeling that is something I will not be living down for a while!
We stopped for lunch at the side of the road, and the wind was freezing so it wasn't a pleasant experience. Trying to keep your food on your plate and keep your hands warm at the same time is not easy, all while trying to eat
We quickly arrived at our camp site for the night, right on the Orange River bank. After setting up our camp, we all went for a walk along the river bank. The weather seemed to be picking up too and there was some sun, finally!! We're hoping to have left the dull and cloudy weather behind us in South Africa, and we're looking forward to some heat at last!
While waiting for dinner, we played some more shithead. I managed to lose the title of shithead, so was very pleased with that! Luca cooked dinner tonight (first time ever apparently!) and it was a traditional pasta dish, which was lovely. I think everyone had second helpings. We also decided to do a kayaking trip tomorrow morning down the Orange River, after a guide came to have a chat with us about it. Following dinner, we moved on to the name game, which continued for the couple of hours before bedtime. It's amazing how when it's not your turn, you can always think of multiple names, but when it comes to you, your mind goes blank!!!

Truck
! Plus the dust got everywhere when we were flapping the plates dry so we're not looking forward to eating off them tonight. We reached the Namibian border at around 3pm and while we all got through easily, we had a bit of a nightmare on the South African side due to Vesh's visa being expired. After being held up for about 45 minutes, we were able to head off without any penalty and we got through the Namibian immigration without incident.
