We then carried on to New Brighton and walked along the pier.. and my goodness.. it was FREEZING!!!! The weather forecast had said 17/18 degrees but it definitely felt colder!! It was so windy as well! At home once the temperature hits 18 degrees I can wear shorts.. but today I was wearing leggings, boots, two vest tops, a jumper, a scarf AND a jacket and was still freezing!! Safe to say we didn't last there long.. but we did read the Pier guide for fishers of what type of wildlife was in the sea before heading off
Next we went to do something which would keep us a little warmer.. shopping! Well more browsing as there is no TOPSHOP in New Zealand and there would be little point me spending my saved money on clothes which I can do anywhere in the world! Plus I'll be heading back to winter so would be nice to have some left over money for a couple of new cosy knits and a warm winter coat!!
Merivale Mall: This mall is a bit more upmarket, quite small and seemed to have a few designer boutiques in it.. not really my style but was worth a little browse.
Northlands Mall: This was quite a bit bigger and had a shop called Amazon which looked exactly like our Urban Outfitters! Definitely more me! Also had a few home shops which sold cute things for around the house - I am sure my uni friends would adore these shops!!
Between driving to each of the malls we also stopped by sights from when I was younger, Aunty and Uncle's old houses (and new ones!) and the flat my mum rents out (she now rents it to one of my other uncles). We then headed home where we were once again greeted my Grandad with a lovely home cooked meal! Managed to stay up a little later this night but still had to get an early night!
