We catch our first of many greyhound buses to Mission Beach where we check in to a very chilled out hostel, the Beachshack, with a policy of no shoes and no locks and where the owner puts on a good barbie and makes the best apple and coconut crumble ever, yum! We spend our couple of days here chilling out on the beach playing sandnuts a wary dip in the water hoping to avoid the stingers which aren't supposed to be there at this time of year but you can never be too sure. We also improvise with a tennis ball and a big twig to make our own game of baseball.
