After Leavin Coloroda we headed on West on the California Zepher, we travelled right up through the Rocky Mountains which had the most unbelievable sights ever, it was like out of a movie. At times when we were travelling through the tunnels you could look right back at the train, it really was a sight to be seen!
After 12 hours on the train we stopped off in a little town called Glenwood Springs, it was little town in the middle of the mountains, didn't really think there would be much to see....but we got quite a surprise when we started walking around the place!
There were natural vapour caves that the Indians used back in the day, they were natural caves under the ground - like a hot sauna - so of course we had to try them out which were lovely, although you couldn't stay in there too long
When we got talking to a few of the locals in our hostel they told us about the Hot Springs which were all around the town, although only the locals knew about them - you could go to ones which you had to pay into but we decided to go looking for the natural ones.
So at 11o'clock at night 8 of us from the hostel went on a trek to find them, we had to walk about a mile up a railway track, then climb down the side of a mountain and in between the mountains and the Colorado river there were the Hot Springs - this has got to be one of the nicest most amazing place we'd been to. There with snow all around the place and it is bitter cold were these hot pools of water which at times was so hot you coulnd't get into them and between the pools and the Colorado River were a few rocks - we could lie in the hot springs and reach over into the River - amazing!
After 2 hours lazing about in the pools we decided it was time to go - but just as we were about to get onto the track, a massive freight train came out through the mountains..... lucky we weren't up there 5 mintues earlier or we would've had to jump into the River!! :)
All was good and after our brief visit to Glenwood Springs we had seen some of the most unbelievable natural attractions that exist!
